Curious Creators Co.Last Updated: September 21, 2026
Welcome to Riff!
These Terms of Service (together with all terms and conditions incorporated by reference, the "Terms") govern use of all Curious Creators Co. apps, websites, and services related to the Riff products and services (the "Services"), which are owned and operated by Curious Creators Co. and our affiliates (collectively, "Riff", "we", or "us").
These Terms are a legally binding agreement between Riff and you, the user of the Services and/or the parent or guardian of any minor above the age of 13 whom you permit to use the Services ("you"). By downloading, installing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, available at https://riffvideo.ai/riff/privacy-policy. You may not use the Services without agreeing to the Terms.
Please read these Terms CAREFULLY, as they may have changed. We may revise and update these Terms from time to time in our sole discretion. In the event of a material change, we will provide at least thirty (30) days' notice by posting the updated Terms on this page and, if you have an Account, by in-app notice or push notification, after which you must affirmatively accept the updated Terms to continue using the Services.
Note: These Terms contain an arbitration clause and a class action waiver (please see Section 18) that govern how claims and other disputes between Riff and you are resolved. By using the Services, you agree to be bound by those provisions, which require the use of arbitration on an individual basis rather than jury trials or class actions in a court of law. You and Riff therefore waive any right to participate in jury trials or class actions with respect to claims or disputes related to these Terms or the Services.
"Account" means the user account you create to access certain features of the Services.
"AI Features" means the features of the Services that use artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies to generate, edit, animate, or transform video, images, audio, or text.
"Company Content" means the Services and all materials in them other than your Inputs and Outputs, including software, models, prompts, templates, effects, presets, music, sound effects, images, text, graphics, logos, trademarks, and the design and arrangement of the Services.
"Credits" means the units of generation capacity, if any, that the Services allocate to your Account through a Subscription, a one-time purchase, or a promotion.
"Inputs" means the photos, videos, audio, text prompts, reference material, and other content you upload, capture, type, or otherwise provide to the Services, including any Device Content you allow us to access.
"Device Content" means files stored on or accessible from the device you use to access the Services, such as photos and videos in your camera roll, that you choose to make available to the Services.
"Outputs" means the videos, images, audio, and other content that the AI Features generate in response to your Inputs.
"User Content" means your Inputs and Outputs together.
"Intellectual Property Rights" means all patent rights, copyright rights, mask work rights, moral rights, rights of publicity, trademark, trade dress and service mark rights, goodwill, trade secret rights, and other intellectual property rights as may now exist or hereafter come into existence, and all applications, registrations, renewals, and extensions of them, under the laws of any jurisdiction.
The Services allow you to create short-form videos and related media using AI Features, for example by describing a scene in text, animating a still photo, applying an effect or style to your own footage, or combining these approaches, and to save, edit, and share the results.
Anyone who uses the Services, whether individually or with the permission of their parent or guardian pursuant to these Terms, is a "User". Users under the age of 18 must abide by these Terms regardless of whether they are legally bound by them. If you are a parent or guardian who gives permission to a User under the age of 18 to use the Services, you agree to be legally responsible and liable for all acts and omissions of that User as though you performed them yourself.
You may not use the Services if you are under the age of 13, nor permit anyone under the age of 13 to use the Services. The Services are not intended for, and we do not direct them to, anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.
You may use the Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and our Acceptable Use Policy in Section 6. Unless your Subscription expressly permits commercial use, you may use the Services and Outputs only for your personal, noncommercial use. Commercial use of Outputs is permitted for Users with an active paid Subscription, subject to Sections 5 and 6.
To use certain features of the Services you may need to create an Account, either directly with us or by using a third-party sign-in service (such as Apple or Google). If you use a third-party sign-in service, you give us permission to access and use your information from that service as permitted by that service and to store your login credentials consistent with our Privacy Policy.
When creating an Account, you must provide accurate and complete information and keep it up to date. You are solely responsible for the activity that occurs on your Account and must take all reasonable measures to keep it secure. Riff will not be liable for any losses caused by unauthorized use of your Account.
You must provide a valid email address where we can contact you. By providing your email address you consent to our using it to send you Service-related notices, including notices required by law, in lieu of communication by postal mail. We may also use your email address to send you other messages, such as changes to features of the Services and special offers. Please see our Privacy Policy for information on how to opt out of certain email communications.
Subject to these Terms, Riff grants you a non-exclusive, limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, freely revocable license to download, install, and use the Riff app on an Apple-branded device that you own or control, and to use the Services, for your personal use (or, where your Subscription permits, your commercial use) as permitted by the features of the Services and subject to the restrictions in these Terms. Riff reserves all rights not expressly granted in the Services and the Company Content. Riff may terminate this license at any time for any reason or no reason.
You agree not to, and will not permit others to:
Your Inputs. We claim no ownership of your Inputs. By providing Inputs to the Services, you grant Riff a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable (to our service providers) license to host, store, reproduce, modify, process, and transmit your Inputs solely as necessary to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Services, to generate Outputs for you, and to enforce these Terms. This license ends when your Inputs are deleted from our systems, except as necessary for backups, legal compliance, or for any Outputs you have shared.
Device Content. Certain features may access Device Content that you make available through your device's permission settings. By enabling those permissions you agree to allow us to access that Device Content for purposes consistent with these Terms, and you agree that any User Content created from Device Content is subject to the same rights and obligations as other User Content.
Your Outputs. As between you and Riff, and subject to your compliance with these Terms, Riff assigns to you all of its right, title, and interest, if any, in the Outputs generated for you. You may use your Outputs for any lawful purpose permitted by your Subscription. You acknowledge that: (a) due to the nature of machine learning, Outputs may not be unique, and other Users may receive similar or identical Outputs from similar Inputs, and Riff makes no promise of exclusivity; (b) Outputs may not be eligible for copyright or other protection in some jurisdictions; and (c) Outputs may incorporate Company Content (such as music, effects, or templates) that remains subject to Riff's or its licensors' rights and may be used only as part of the Output.
License to Riff for Outputs. You grant Riff the same license in your Outputs as in your Inputs. In addition, if you choose to share an Output through a public feature of the Services (such as a public feed, community gallery, or "featured" program), you grant Riff a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, and create derivative works of that Output, and to use your username and profile image in connection with it, for the purpose of operating and promoting the Services, until you remove it from the public feature. Where the Services offer a separate opt-in, we will use your User Content for marketing only with your express consent.
Feedback. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the Services are non-confidential, and you grant Riff a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose without compensation or credit to you.
AI training. We use your User Content to train or fine-tune our AI models only where you have expressly opted in, as described in our Privacy Policy. You may withdraw that consent at any time in your Account settings.
Your representations. In connection with your User Content, you represent and warrant that:
We take no responsibility and assume no liability for any User Content. You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of creating, sharing, or publishing it. We have the right (but not the obligation) to review, moderate, remove, or refuse to generate any User Content at our sole discretion.
AI video tools can be misused. You agree that you will not use the Services, and will not attempt to prompt the AI Features, to create, upload, or share content that:
You also agree not to remove or falsify any label, watermark, or provenance signal indicating that an Output was AI-generated, and to comply with any applicable law requiring disclosure of synthetic media when you share Outputs outside the Services. Some AI Features are designed for use with images of adults and may produce distorted or unpredictable results with other subjects; you must not use any feature with images of minors where the feature is labeled for adult subjects.
We may use automated and human review to detect violations of this Section, may decline to generate or may remove content that we believe violates it, and may suspend or terminate the Accounts of Users who violate it. We may report content that appears to involve child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement.
The Services use artificial intelligence to generate content, including AI models provided by third parties such as fal, Replicate, OpenAI, and Google Cloud Vertex AI. Outputs are generated automatically and are not reviewed by a human before they are shown to you. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, or unintended, may resemble real people or existing works by coincidence, and may not be unique. You are responsible for reviewing Outputs before you use or share them. Riff does not endorse any Output and makes no representation that Outputs are accurate, original, fit for any purpose, or free of third-party rights. AI Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time.
Except for your User Content, the Services and all Company Content, and all Intellectual Property Rights related to them, are the exclusive property of Riff and its licensors. Except as expressly provided in these Terms, nothing in these Terms creates a license in or under any such Intellectual Property Rights, and you agree not to sell, license, rent, modify, distribute, copy, reproduce, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, publish, adapt, edit, or create derivative works from any Company Content. "Riff", the Riff logo, and other Riff marks are trademarks of Curious Creators Co. We may terminate your use of the Services if you violate this Section or otherwise breach these Terms.
Certain features of the Services are free, and certain features are available only to Accounts that purchase a subscription ("Subscription") or a one-time pack of Credits. Your Subscription may begin with a free trial period, during which you may cancel at any time without being charged. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial, you will be automatically charged in accordance with the payment terms presented to you when you began the Subscription.
We partner with Apple Inc.'s App Store ("App Store") to facilitate Subscriptions and in-app purchases. All payments are charged to the payment method on file with your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Your Subscription will automatically renew at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Subscriptions must be managed through your Apple ID account settings, including cancellations. For more information, see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039. Once cancelled, you will keep access until the end of the paid period, after which the Subscription will not renew.
Credits. Credits are consumed each time you generate an Output, at the rates displayed in the Services, which may vary by feature, resolution, and duration. Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for money, and, in the case of Credits granted as part of a Subscription, expire at the end of the billing period in which they were granted, or in the case of Credits purchased separately from a Subscription, expire twelve (12) months after purchase. Credits used for failed generations will be automatically returned to your Credit balance. We may change Credit rates, generation limits, and available features at any time with reasonable notice.
Prices and errors. We may change prices at any time; price changes apply at your next renewal. If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to an error, we may refuse or cancel the order and, if you were charged, request a refund through the App Store.
We do not provide refunds for cancelled Subscriptions or unused Credits, except where required by applicable law. Because purchases are made through the App Store, refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies; you may request one at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
These Terms are between you and Riff only, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"), and Apple is not responsible for the Services or their content. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the Services. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the Services; in the event of any failure to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any, and Apple will have no other warranty obligation. Riff, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the Services, including product liability claims, claims that the Services fail to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection or similar laws. Riff, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the Services infringe Intellectual Property Rights. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the Services. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
We care about the privacy of our Users. You understand that by using the Services you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information and aggregate or anonymized data as set forth in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Services, you consent to have your personal information, including your Inputs, collected, used, transferred to, and processed in the United States and in other countries where we and our service providers operate.
We use commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never defeat our security measures. You acknowledge that you provide your personal information at your own risk.
The Services may contain links to, or integrate with, third-party websites, apps, AI model providers, and services (including social platforms to which you may share Outputs) that are not owned or controlled by Riff. We do not endorse or assume any responsibility for any third-party service or content. If you access a third-party service from the Services or share your User Content through one, you do so at your own risk and subject to that third party's terms, and these Terms do not apply to your use of that service. You expressly relieve us from any liability arising from your use of any third-party service or content.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Services or any feature, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. We may provide updates, patches, and upgrades to the app, which will be governed by these Terms, and we have no obligation to provide any update or to continue any feature.
These Terms remain in effect until terminated by you or by Riff. You may terminate at any time by requesting deletion of your Account at support@riffvideo.ai and uninstalling the app. Riff may suspend or terminate your Account or access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the Services ends, you must stop using the app, and we may delete your Account and User Content, subject to our Privacy Policy. Sections 5, 6, 8, 10, and 14 through 20, and any other provision that by its nature should survive, survive termination.
We take intellectual property rights seriously. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") and other applicable law, we have adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, the Accounts of Users who are deemed to be repeat infringers.
If you believe that content appearing through the Services infringes your copyright, you may submit a notification pursuant to the DMCA by providing our Copyright Agent with the following information in writing (see 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) for further detail):
If you believe a notice was wrongly filed against you, you may send a counter-notice to our Copyright Agent that includes: your name, address, telephone number, and email address; a description of the material that has been removed or disabled; a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification; a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in San Francisco, California, and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the notification of alleged infringement; and your physical or electronic signature.
Be aware that there can be substantial penalties for false claims. Send notices and counter-notices to: Copyright Agent, Curious Creators Co., 1534 Plaza Ln #200, Burlingame, CA 94010, or email copyright@riffvideo.ai. For any other reason, contact us at support@riffvideo.ai or write to Customer Service, Curious Creators Co., 1534 Plaza Ln #200, Burlingame, CA 94010.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Riff and its subsidiaries, agents, licensors, managers, and other affiliated companies, and their employees, contractors, agents, officers, and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from: (i) your use of and access to the Services, including any User Content; (ii) your violation of these Terms, including the Acceptable Use Policy; (iii) your violation of any third-party right, including any right of privacy, right of publicity, or Intellectual Property Right, including any claim by a person whose likeness appears in your User Content; (iv) your violation of any applicable law, rule, or regulation; (v) your use or distribution of Outputs; (vi) your willful misconduct; or (vii) any other party's access and use of the Services via your Account.
THE SERVICES, THE AI FEATURES, ALL OUTPUTS, AND ANY OTHER CONTENT MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT ANY REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND REPRESENTATIONS (EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ORAL OR WRITTEN), INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING, USAGE, OR TRADE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE, ORIGINAL, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE, OR THAT USER CONTENT WILL NOT BE LOST OR CORRUPTED. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL CURIOUS CREATORS CO. OR ITS AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICES, THE AI FEATURES, OR ANY OUTPUT, REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS UNDER ALL THEORIES OF LIABILITY WILL BE LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO CURIOUS CREATORS CO. IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). THIS SECTION WILL BE GIVEN FULL EFFECT EVEN IF ANY REMEDY SPECIFIED IN THESE TERMS IS DEEMED TO HAVE FAILED OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Informal resolution first. Before starting arbitration, you and Riff agree to try to resolve any dispute informally. The party raising the dispute must send a written Notice of Dispute to the other, describing the dispute and the relief requested. Send notices to Riff at support@riffvideo.ai or Legal, Curious Creators Co., 1534 Plaza Ln #200, Burlingame, CA 94010; Riff will send notices to the email address on your Account. If the dispute is not resolved within sixty (60) days after the notice is sent, either party may begin arbitration.
Binding arbitration. You and Riff agree that, except as provided below, all disputes, controversies, and claims related to these Terms or the Services (each a "Claim") shall be finally and exclusively resolved by binding arbitration, which may be initiated by either party by sending a written notice requesting arbitration to the other party. The arbitration will be conducted under the Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures of JAMS in effect at the time the arbitration is initiated (the "JAMS Rules") and under the terms set forth in these Terms. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the JAMS Rules, these Terms control.
Except as otherwise set forth in these Terms, you may seek any remedies available under federal, state, or local law in arbitration. Both parties will have the opportunity for discovery of non-privileged information relevant to the Claim. The arbitrator will provide a written statement of the decision, the award, and the findings and conclusions on which the decision is based. Whether a Claim is subject to arbitration shall be governed by the Federal Arbitration Act and determined by a court rather than an arbitrator. Either party may litigate in court to compel arbitration, stay proceedings pending arbitration, or confirm, modify, vacate, or enter judgment on the award. The arbitrator's decision shall be final, binding, and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction, provided that any award may be challenged if the arbitrator fails to follow applicable law.
The arbitration will be conducted in San Francisco, California, unless the parties agree to video, phone, or internet appearances.
Class action waiver. You and Riff agree that any arbitration shall be limited to the Claim between Riff and you individually. YOU AND RIFF AGREE THAT (a) THERE IS NO RIGHT OR AUTHORITY FOR ANY DISPUTE TO BE ARBITRATED ON A CLASS-ACTION BASIS OR TO UTILIZE CLASS ACTION PROCEDURES; (b) THERE IS NO RIGHT OR AUTHORITY FOR ANY DISPUTE TO BE BROUGHT IN A PURPORTED REPRESENTATIVE CAPACITY OR AS A PRIVATE ATTORNEY GENERAL; AND (c) NO ARBITRATION SHALL BE JOINED WITH ANY OTHER ARBITRATION.
Exceptions. The following Claims are not subject to the informal-resolution and arbitration provisions above: (a) any Claim seeking to enforce or protect, or concerning the validity of, any of your or Riff's Intellectual Property Rights; (b) any Claim arising from allegations of theft, piracy, invasion of privacy, or unauthorized use; and (c) any claim for equitable relief. Either party may also bring an individual action in small claims court for Claims within that court's jurisdiction.
Fees. If you initiate arbitration, you will pay the JAMS initiation fee. If Riff initiates arbitration, we will pay all JAMS initiation costs. All other fees and costs will be allocated under the JAMS Rules.
Opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@riffvideo.ai within thirty (30) days after first accepting these Terms, stating your name, Account email, and that you wish to opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other provision of these Terms.
Time limit. To the extent permitted by law, any Claim must be commenced within one (1) year after it accrues; otherwise it is permanently barred.
These Terms and any Claim are governed by the laws of the State of California and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to Section 18, you and Riff consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
These Terms, and any rights and licenses granted under them, may not be transferred or assigned by you, but may be assigned by Riff without restriction. Any attempted transfer or assignment in violation of this Section is null and void.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, any amendments, and any additional agreements you enter into with Riff in connection with the Services, constitute the entire agreement between you and Riff concerning the Services and supersede all prior agreements. If any provision of these Terms is deemed invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of that provision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions, which shall remain in full force and effect, except that if the Class Action Waiver is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration agreement shall be unenforceable.
No waiver of any term of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of that term or any other term, and our failure to assert any right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Section headings are for convenience only. The Services are operated from the United States and are not intended for use where such use would be contrary to law; you are responsible for compliance with local laws.
